Agree/disagree: 5 wars were declared BUT Congress voted 4 World War I 4/6/17, & WWII 12/8/45 Other wars: War of 1812, Mex-Amer War & Span-Amer War. U.S. wasn't yet a nation in 1776 & Civ War was treason/rebellion by south

You're obviously much smarter than me. I got my info from National Archives, http://House.gov , and other reputable sites. I tried to simplify a topic too complex for the limitations of Twitter to make the actual point which is a pres doesnt need Congress to go to war.

Smarter? Not necessarily. Agree w/your point that so many times military has been committed & thousands died w/o declarations of war. That's a travesty in our nat'l policies. (& 3 wars shouldn't have been: Mex-Amer, Span-Amer & WWI)
