Yeah, they're probably suffering anxiety that when you leave it'll be for too long (that's usually what makes dogs act up - anxiety).
Gate??? Did they get off your property while outside?!?

We vaccinate for everything too especially for Lymes Disease. Our German Shepherd/ flat coated retriever was born with Lymes Disease. She suffered terribly whenever it flared up so we had to give her antibiotics during those times.
Colleagues of mine keep an eye on things when I'm away (even for one night). I also call home & leave a VM - unless a cat answers & there R weird noises of cat parties in background

I'll reply briefly - then gotta crash. They run the household. Little Bit, in cat years, is about 110. Delilah is about 70. I'm the young 'un in the household. Definition of irony: buying cat food & kitty litter at the same time.
