Agreed. They do bring in tourism and support local industry though so I guess it's like giving tax incentives to a big business promising jobs. But I do see your point. Thanks.

Studies have pretty heavily found cost-benefit analysis is not kind to sports subsidies. It's better to invest in education & other aspects of infrastructure.
