Yes, but I would argue that the greater the threat vigilante or mob justice then the more repressed.... oppressed and LESS free ... any population will become. It's inevitable. So there is a balance. Because if true oppression is occurring, then yes I needs to be opposed.
We are supposed 2 b land of the free - w/free & fair & honest elections. These are circumstances not seen for quite a while. If people are oppressed and the gov't is taken from them, vocal criticism of public officials may be a form of release of tension. And? BUT ... if it is reactionary, like hitting someone before they hit you .... If it is fear that you might be oppressed by that person or entity in the future .... Then "standing up to them" amounts to predicting a crime of the future to justify......
