Tomorrow, Zynga shuts down FarmVille on Facebook after 11 years. I wanted to share the story of how we created it and why it has played such an important role in the evolution of gaming. 1/x

2/ To take an example, at concept teams were asked to do paper prototpying and come up with rough plans around audience, game, art style, etc. This didn't require more than 2-3 founders that honed an idea while working their day jobs. So no funding yet

1/ New game teams were asked to match their dev milestones to VC-style funding rounds and pitch to senior leaders Concept --> Pre-Production --> Production --> Soft Launch --> Launch --> Live Ops Bootstrap --> Angel/Pre-seed --> Seed --> Series A --> Series B --> Growth

A big reason produced so many strong games founders & execs is bc game teams were trained to act like startups 1. New teams had to raise money VC style 2. Monthly board meetings for accountability 3. Outsized rewards for success Here's what each tactic taught our teams👇

What motivates nytimes to avoid calling this fraud. Its like saying madhoff was ruined by investors all demanding money back at the same time.

That… is not even remotely what caused FTX to collapse. Apparently if you steal billions of dollars the three reporters writing the story about it will blame everything on the person who sold the worthless token before you declare bankruptcy and it goes to zero.

While casting shade on for what he’s done, is doing, or will do, try to pause & remember that he made electric cars a normal thing in society and he commercialized space — for cargo, satellites, & people. Count him among those who are inventing civilization’s future.

Has anyone ever analyzed the net impact of the horrible holiday spam we all get? There must be a meaningful increase in unsub and reduction in nps. Particularly hate which is sending me 2-3 emails a day wishing me well.

The FTX story just gets wilder. Earlier this year, SBF invested $11.5m in Farmington State Bank in Washington St. (nearly double the bank’s value). It’s the 26th smallest bank in the US. It serves a town of 146 people. Has only 3 employees. And looks like my parent’s garage.

Colorado friends. Remember to vote yes on prop 122 to legalize plant medicines. California friends. Vote no on prop 30 which adds more taxes to subsidize lyft’s required move to electric.

One guy’s business plan for a $44 billion over-leveraged purchase is apparently to run around and individually ask people for $8. Remember that next time you question yourself or your qualifications.

My take on web3 and block chain gaming oppty. A lot like social gaming in 2007.

My advice for to monetize and grow twitter is stick to Proven, Better, New framework and dont waste any time on new ideas until youve exhausted all proven. Wechatof the West has already failed many times. At least study why first.

Watching US and Holocaust is a reminder of our a moral obligation to maintain open borders and always accept immigrants. Both parties are complicit in our closed borders and the millions we could have saved.

Yea! and calling out that Prop 30 is just corp welfare for Lyft disguised as climate protection. Corporations shouldnt be allowed to fund political referendums. Wtf!

Vote NO on Prop 30. It is NOT pro environment. It is more sad wedge politics by a single company (Lyft) trying to improve their bottom line at the cost of CA small business, families and schools. Driving businesses and innovators out of CA hurts us all. @theallinpod

This is just about subsidizing Lyft. The state has already required them to convert to e cars by 2030. So this is just about who pays for it.

Opinion: Lyft is sponsoring a climate tax on high earners in California to fund new vehicles and bail out its drivers on.ft.com/3RQaArh
