Have to think vents and lung bypass and a better understanding of immune reactions have blunted fatality here. But I think the bigger difference is networking- supply chains, communication technology, etc are going to really shorten the pandemic duration.

Yes, you are correct to an extent but remember that somewhere around 50 Million died from the Spanish flu worldwide, there was no rapid vaccine, the whole thing lasted for 2 years. We will be (probably) done within 1 year. And the mRNA vaccine technology will save millions.

I'm not a doctor, but I've read that significant neurological issues followed the 1918 pandemic. When they happen this time, I'm sure they'll be blamed on vaccines by those with an agenda to push.

Dr. Gambhir talked about the 50 years later future and how the future tech could be helpful for one of his major losses. He founded a field to fight cancer better. I wonder about genomics related fields that are different than imaging, and how their fusion will be helpful.

I helped make a digital exhibit on the Spanish Flu response in Utah. This article in the SLTrib could be reprinted word for word today. (see thread for links to the exhibit)https://twitter.com/loganemitchell/status/1328154791462141954 …

Actually, if you read "Defoe's Journal of a Plague Year," (don't, it's very dull) it was amazingly similar 350 years ago, including assholes who snuck out and infected others.
