If I may chime in...it’s why politicians need training in strategy development. Strategy isn’t listing all the things you want to achieve, it’s determining the means (cost and trade offs) and ways (methods) you use to achieve them. And then real leaders must sometime say no.

And real leaders talk to ppl they're leading abt the costs/trade offs. Most pols address constituents as if they don't confront analogous issues in their own lives. If politics is again to be a place where problems get solved, everyone's got to be in an adult-level conversation.

Hold on a minute. A one page list of what she is fighting for is not the strategic outline of how to accomplish her goals. Leaders need both. without a goal, how can we ever know if we’re headed in the right direction?

Here's another novel concept: politicians must spend more time with their constituents than with donors. If you're only a bought-and-paid-for politician, like many on both sides of the political spectrum, you're really just a willing participant in the world's oldest profession.

agreed and strategy development itself must undergo changes to update approaches in ways that will address complex, unbounded problems that cannot be solved in traditional ways--using traditional problem-solving approaches makes them worse. Congress unable even 2 comprehend this.
