Most Canadians respect Terry Fox and War Memorials. Most Canadians don’t steal from food banks. Most Canadians would never wave a swastika and if they saw one, they would take it down. And most Canadians are vaccinated. I consider those people to be the true patriots.

My pal Gordon Pinsent passed. I saw him a few weeks ago, his twinkle as bright as ever. I looked up to him as the Rowdyman but loved him as Porky Pinsent from Grand Falls. He cut the path the rest of us travelled. A household name based on Canadian work. The best there ever was

If you can walk up to the Deputy PM and call her those names yet still claim there is no freedom in Canada, I would suggest trying that with Putin. This behaviour does not make me think ‘I wonder what I can learn about vaccine science from this man.’
Quote
This is unacceptable treatment of the Deputy PM while visiting in her home province of Alberta. This man & woman actually congratulate themselves in the parking lot, as though they are fighting for freedom. How exactly is calling the DPM a F**ken B**ch fighting for freedom?

I wish to announce that I will not be seeking the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. I sincerely ask you to support the candidate that can best be made fun of during the next election.

Re: Don Cherry - I’m at a Costco In St Johns. It’s whiter than a snow bank. Hundreds here but I’ve only counted 7 poppies so far. The problem isn’t “you people”. It’s “we people.” #remberanceday PS you can buy poppies here. Even in bulk.

Mackay says it’s crass to ban assault weapons after a mass shooting. It’s not as crass as using a mass shooting to argue FOR assault weapons. Head shake time. #cdnpoli

As a Nova Scotian, I am outraged that Justin Trudeau is using our tragedy to punish law-abiding firearms owners across Canada. As Prime Minister, I can guarantee to all Canadians that I will never take advantage of a tragedy like this to push a political agenda.

Gordon Lightfoot has left us. There’s something about Canada and Gordons.. This is a photo of him alongside fellow Gords Downie and Pinsent. Pinsent then painted the image. All gone now. To quote Mr. Lightfoot, “If you plan to face tomorrow, do it soon.” #GordanLightfoot

Dear The name isn't offensive if it's referring to the actual person. For instance, if I said you were as dumb as Eric Trump it's not offensive because you ARE Eric Trump.
Quote
The irony of an ABC reporter (whose parent company Disney has profited nearly half a billion dollars on the movie “Pocahontas”) inferring that the name is “offensive” is truly staggering to me.

I was doing a live hit with @MSNBC this afternoon when our crew was mobbed. One guy actually spit at us, others called us Nazis. MSNBC had to cut it off almost after it began. Then they chased us down the street to our bureau.

I will never live this down because of all the fun I’ve made over Toronto calling in the army - but I think it’s time for our friends in the Canadian Military to save NFLD & Lab. At least a third are from there so, they won’t mind. (waves white flag)

I found an old negative last night. No idea who was in it. I sent it to my friend Ray and he texted back this beautiful colour photo of my late mom as a young girl. That’s the house she grew up in on Mt Scio road. What a lovely surprise. Hi, Mom!

Jimmy’s family came from Newfoundland and Labrador and he had a strong connection to his roots. He visited the province several times and made a point of performing here. He was very kind to my brother and spread a lot of that same kindness every time he visited. RIP Jimmy.

Happiest of birthdays to my dear friend Gordon Pinsent. At 90, Gordon still has that same curiosity he had at 9. Yes, he is a poet, actor, singer, writer, producer and director. But he is an even better friend. That cake won’t know what hit it!!!

Yes there is racism in Canada. Our own prime minister thought black face was okay. Growing up white in Nfld & Lab, like Rex and I did, can make you think it doesn’t. That’s why media should ask POC to talk now. If Fog was the issue of the day, then they should ask us. #cdnpoli

Non-Indigenous fishers: “How would you like it if one day people showed up in boats out of nowhere to take away your right to your resources?” I think Indigenous people know exactly how that feels. They have a right to a moderate livelihood. Stop these assaults.

Welcome to Canada Yaman. I’m sorry about the weather. It gets better. If you are interested, in the summer, I’d love to take you and your family COD jigging. Every Newfoundlander needs to know how to. Thanks for coming!

This is Yaman.  He’s in Grade Three.  He’s just like any other kid except for one thing: His family are all Syrian refugees. No biggie, after all Canada admits a lot of refugees, right? Wait, keep reading.

Dad would have been 100 today. His father died of TB when he was just five. He fought ‘tooth & nail’ to find work. He did, first at the Daily News, and then at VOCM. He was witty, fair and very kind. I’ll soon be playing him on TV but there can be no imitators. One of a kind.

RIP Christopher Pratt. Brilliant painter, fierce Newfoundlander and creator of our flag. He had a wicked sense of humour and we had the loveliest chats. I’ll always treasure the time we spent in his studio. I expect God will be asking ‘how did you make it all look so real?’
