Mark Chapman’s posts

I've had 5 great years presenting the NFL but I have now decided to step down. Nobody can go on for ever (unless you are Tom Brady). I wish Dan and the boys continued success. Thank you to the NFL communities on both sides of the pond for welcoming me into their sport. 🏈

We have asked why VAR did not give a red card for that Lo Celso incident. We have been told 'it wasn't a clear and obvious error because VAR didn't feel there was anywhere else for him to put his foot'. Give me strength.

Refs make mistakes,VAR will make mistakes but what is bizarre is that PGMOL never ever admit that their officials or the system get it wrong. They have an answer for everything. It’s not a crime to drop a bollock and admit it. We probably all do it every single day #Motd

Players and coaches will be criticised but if a club is run for a long time with seemingly no plan, no vision, little structure and simply as a means to make money and sign another office supplies/pillow deal this is what you end up with. #mufc

World Cup Final, Stokes at Headingley, Ashes series, T20 Final going down to last ball, County Championship going down to last game next week. Sensational tv, radio & written coverage. Cricket is not broken.

I know there has been so much analysis of the pundits at this tournament but Zabaleta and Drogba have been a joy to work with and spend time with. Intelligent, interesting, fun and proper team players.

Didn’t sound heartbroken when I spoke to him on Sports Report. Was proud of 30 league goals, proud of becoming first Spurs player since Clive Allen to hit 40 in all comps and was full of praise for Mo Salah too. In fact couldn’t have sounded less heartbroken.

I’ve spent too much time in football because I’m finding it so refreshing that William and Harry are talking to each other in the church without putting their hands over their mouths. #RoyalWedding

Maybe I am just a soppy old sod but John Askey played over 400 times for Macclesfield, has a terrace named after him and has now managed them back into the Football League. I like stories like that. Nice.

In the referees’ briefing to the media pre tournament they said they would take ‘grappling’ in the box seriously and give penalties for it. I don’t think they added ‘unless the foul is on Kane and then we’ll ignore it’ #eng #worldcup

Trott & Kenny didn't marry in secret. Their friends and family were there! They just didn't tell the media. It's called being normal.

First thing Yaya Toure does in his thank you speech to fans at Manchester City is send his best wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson. Big round of applause follows. Classy.

Chairman, players, fans all pulling in the same direction under the stewardship of one of the nicest, most genuine guys you could meet in the game in Chris Hughton. Well played this season.

For those who can’t understand how you can play a sport for 5 days and a draw still be possible, this is why. Guts, determination, skill, psychology, mental & physical exhaustion, atmosphere, tension all in evidence. Love cricket. #ashes

UEFA and European clubs close to an agreement to expand Champions League by four matches a season. No decision yet on which format but big implications for domestic football. thetimes.co.uk/article/plan-t

Every week #motd2 is a proper team effort put together by talented people. You have probably shouted at us & we have probably pissed you off at times but we always try to make it fun and interesting! Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Til next season....

When my 6yr old daughter has spent the last 2 evenings pretending to be Ben Stokes and my 12yr old daughter has been both Jofra Archer & Jos Buttler I think you can tell what has dominated our weekend listening and watching. 🏏🏏🏏

A great afternoon with the players. All 23 available. They were approachable, open, funny, confident and hugely likeable. Doesn’t mean we’ll win the World Cup obviously but it does feel different.

The number of times I stopped myself from tweeting this morning, just in case I cursed it! Hundred in his first test, hundred in his last. Thank you Alastair Cook.

Amazed at the broadcasting capabilities of Tony Livesey especially and other 5live colleagues today. I can’t even find the right words on here. Rachael was a remarkable woman and so many people have found her pod & blog so valuable. Love to Steve & Freddie. ❤️

What an amazing six weeks. Thanks for listening and watching to the World Cup and . I have loved every minute. A couple of weeks of sitting around in my pants, drinking tea and then we’ll go again shall we?

Pickford and Maguire will grab the headlines but the organisation, leadership, communication, efficiency and composure of both Henderson and Stones has been really impressive. #eng #ENGSWE

Mark & Lard to replace Chris Evans on breakfast just like they did at Radio 1? If not, they already have a warm, funny, lovely former R1 breakfast show host on their books so would love it to be her. I am biased though!

The 5live sport producers giving me plenty of opportunities to make a right mess of tonight's show with a Shane Warne interview from 8 and a Shaun Wane interview from 9.

John Murray, Ian Dennis, Alistair Bruce-Ball and Conor McNamara are all experienced commentators and journalists who bring knowledge and enthusiasm to every single game they cover. Respected, liked and popular. Love working with them.

Haven’t been on here for ages, mainly because it can really affect my happiness! But I need to return to say thank you for all the messages about the #SJA2017 win. They mean a lot. I’m always part of a team & very lucky to work with a lot of talented people.

Am so late to this but The Edge is one of the most moving, emotional & beautifully made sporting films I have ever seen. As remarkable as the England team it tells the story of. Wow!

Brechin fans deserve a pint tonight. They become the first Scottish side in 126 years to go through a whole season without a win. P36 W0 D4 L32 . Goal difference -70. There's always next season.

Maradona was the greatest footballer of my youth. Now he appears to be the joke cutaway of choice for tv directors. Not that he helps himself but sad.

If you don’t follow NFL, you may have missed that Seattle selected a one handed player yesterday. The first ever in the league and THIS is why sport is powerful and inspirational ⬇️❤️

I know there is so much more to it but when the love and pride you have in your club is mirrored by your manager then it is bloody special and those Goodison fans have had that and more today.

Well played . Emphatically proving that football didn't start back in 1992. And well played to whoever researched that one in the office.
