    This mobile chapter implementation is going to be another big step in YouTube eating everyone else’s lunch in podcasts. Everyone else way too focused on discovery, not enough on pushing the medium forward. These are early days, it’s still time to get weird on behalf of creators.

    This would have been helpful today. Really wonder where Spotify, Apple, and others are on this. Would think this is right up ’s alley.

    2020 prediction: "Live streamed podcasts" will be a thing natively on podcast platforms. Will create excitement & immediacy that podcasts don't currently have beyond drop dates without needing to take their voices to YT. This isn't ground Spotify/iHeart/Apple will want to cede.

    Just like Instagram (and then every other social platform) realized stories was a format that could be lifted, everyone is going to realize Quibi’s vertical / horizontal video “turnstyle” is a key mobile format. Requires a lot of very specific production work, but it’s worth it.

    Voice command is to text input as touch screen is to the mouse. Voice / touch is often more natural and easy, but sometimes lacking the precision necessary for a task.

    Love the minimizing of waste here. Apple can make this seem less “cheap” through UX defaults. $999 with charger and buds, but promos to make it as much as $40 off by selecting to not include these items with your order.

    Kuo: Apple will not include earbuds or charger in iPhone 12 box, will introduce a 20W power adapter to be sold separately ( / 9to5Mac)

    Text stories on Instagram run counter to the stories conceit. They’re so visually bold and creatively demanding that they seem like they need to be *worthy* of impact. True text stories would need to be low level of effort to write, low personal threshold to publish.

    My hot take on Quibi is two-fold: - There's nothing wrong with a bold idea, even if it might not pan out - You should mitigate the risk in that bold idea by testing, testing, testing (and user researching), ideally before you put down a cool billion.

    💯 - I used to think this was the same as radio drive-time host tone, but that’s more “I’m the cool kid and you WANT to talk to me.” Podcaster tone is “I am your friend, we hopped on a call.”

    what the podcast hosts i listen to don't understand is that they all are my good friends now

    One of the few things that separates voice assistant apps/skills from podcasts is interactivity, which is just the idea that it can take your voice as in input. So...which podcast platform is going to allow the mic to open on your phone at certain moments during playback?
