Holy crap, this is incredible: A dog playing Jenga. Turn-taking, fine motor control, apparent understanding of the aim of the game. I would not have guessed a dog could do this.

Want to improve accuracy and robustness of your model? Use unlabeled data! Our new work uses self-training on unlabeled data to achieve 87.4% top-1 on ImageNet, 1% better than SOTA. Huge gains are seen on harder benchmarks (ImageNet-A, C and P). Link:

Few people appreciate the “last mile” of UX. Making something _really_ slick is a billion dollar moat. Zoom wasn’t the first. Nor WhatsApp. They’re just... excellent. Take any productivity app, Zoomify it, build yourself an empire. “100ms is the best patent”

Taking advantage of their ability to continuously track the activity of neurons for more than a week, the researchers first confirmed that network dynamics in the visual cortex are robustly tuned to criticality, even across light and dark cycles.

“When neurons combine, they actively seek out a critical regime," “We were surprised to find that, in our models, it was largely accounted for by a population of inhibitory neurons that, in retrospect, are well poised to regulate the organization of the larger network,”

This is very interesting. That the brain operates at this point pretty much had to be true. But they claim the mechanism relies mostly on inhibitory neurons, which is very interesting.
