Mission politico and activist Jon Jacobo has been accused of sexual assault — though his accuser says she does not wish to press charges.
But charges could be brought, regardless, despite the alleged victim's wishes.

1. How likely is it that Jacobo will be charged? 2. If charged, will he be booked into the SF County jail, thus subjected to increased delta variant risk? 3. How is it credible that the accuser didn't understand this potential scenario?

Long conversation with a Black homeowner about these allegations yesterday. Both the description of events leading up to the alleged assault and the manner in which the accuser brought this to light were disconcerting to her. TBH, it seems like a political hit job against Jacobo.

The use of social media to attempt to pre-try the case may in the end raise Jacobo's stature with older voters, particularly older women of color. In the meantime, it's raised reasonable questions about the standards for groups associated with accuser, and local media's response.

under any other circumstances, it would feel gross to note this but the public disclosure aspect by someone who definitely smeared Buttar ten months previously, then didn’t correct the record, seems self-serving wrt rehabilitating lost credibility & employability in SF politics

it’s noteworthy that the survivor’s account —and i at least don’t have reason to doubt it occurred— was excruciatingly detailed in recounting the personal trauma yet when pressed for *any* detail publicly wrt Shahid, all that was provided was vague & subjective feels gross

IMO, big issue wasn't accuser but mass of cohort piling on, without ever acknowledging that this would mar any chance for fair trial. That was shocking to me because these were all privileged educated ppl. who ostensibly knew better. Cohort group mostly white; accused is Latino.
