Cruz could face another close Senate race, after O'Rourke lost by 2.6 points in 2018, a closer margin than is typical for the red state. With a tough Senate map, Texas and Florida, both red states, are the only even conceivable pick up opportunities for Dems

He isn't explicitly ruling out another White House bid. But Cruz described the Senate as the "battlefield right now" If he passes on running, he'll join several other senators who were once thought of as 2024 contenders but who aren't jumping in this cycle
