Slightly nervous to be sharing my story in science, which has many good things but also some painful ones. Here's to destigmatizing mental illness.

I just had a basic science NIH proposal withdrawn by CSR, three wks before study section, because they decided it's a clinical trial, even though the definition and a case study says it isn't. So if you're hoping to submit as a non-clinical-trial, you may want to reconsider. 1/2

4 experiments and >440 participants later... my first postdoc project! We find that semantic knowledge can boost accuracy of new episodic memories, but the way that it is organized can also affect how those memories are distorted.

Kathrin's findings are finally out: motor and premotor cortices are involved in transforming what we hear into what we say. A summary of the results (from the original preprint) is here: . A collaboration with , and Kean-Ming Tan.

Memories are organized by their spatial study context. These contextual features are being reinstated with distinct time courses in hippocampus and surrounding MTL, while theta power increase is common to these regions!

Memory & pattern similarity for objects! Hippocampus helps protects against false memories by dissociating the neural similarity of exemplars in visual ctx. Cortical overlap and cortical-hippocampal interactions predict subsequent true and false memory.
