Binary is working fine and seems to 10 to 30% faster. However, cpm+2D diffusion is still about a factor 10 faster on linux.

No, it's not. Latest Linux/OSX binaries date from 05.05.17, but Windows version lacks behind (latest 02.11.16): https://imc.zih.tu-dresden.de/morpheus/packages/ …

However, due to lack of compiler-level optimizations, performance of the Windows version is noticeably lower. I strongly advice Linux/Mac.
