I am not going to try to unpack everything that is going on in this letter, but suffice to say that it offends me as an anti-racist accomplice & it makes me ill to think of BIPOC reading this letter, which minimizes and erases the harm they experience in the field & at large 2/5

If anyone wishes to read a copy of this letter, I see no ethical concern with sharing it with you; DM me or email me (or message me on FB if we’re friends there) and I will share it with you 3/5

While I have been sitting back (not quietly, I suppose, but still) to see what if anything senior scholars and folks who have leadership roles in this org would do beyond offer platitudes and perform wokeness for public audiences, I’m done. 4/5

As of today I am removing myself from membership in ISAS. Unless I see clear, direct, & substantive change, I will not participate in any further ISAS events or publications. My ultimate goal is to uplift and protect BIPOC students and scholars, & I can’t do that in ISAS 5/5

This makes so much more sense. I couldn't figure out why I hadn't gotten this letter. Lémlmtš for sharing the screenshots.

So, that's — appalling? I'm deeply concerned about the implications her selection process (if any) for the recipients of her salvo may have for the organization's governance. (And, if I may understate, for the integrity of the vote.)
