Due to COVID-19 & the advice being issued by the Government & Public Health England I am changing the way that I work. Going forwards, my work will have to be completed remotely, but there are 3 ways you can easily contact me:

Well said Bridget. Freeports are a terrible idea, in Barking & Dagenham or anywhere. They don't create good, high-skilled jobs. They are a massive risk for financial crime & money laundering too.

I'm strongly against the bid for a freeport in Barking & Dagenham. Tax cuts and light touch regulation are no way to grow the local economy. Freeports are a failed policy. This time will be no different.

Happy to have signed this. There should be no room for corrupt influences or dirty money in our football clubs.

The last Labour leader to win...this really isn’t controversial.

The courageous Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, has been jailed. This is disturbing but sadly unsurprising news. The UK must do more to stand up to the corrupt Russian regime & sanction the kleptocrats that try to buy influence here.

Before Christmas, the Government announced an 'expert group' to look at the impact of learning loss across the country. We complained then that it was late in the day. Months later, it STILL doesn't have a membership or terms of reference. 🤯 No plan, no focus, no leadership.

BREAKING: Labour voted to protect millions of families stuck in this cladding crisis. The Conservatives didn’t even show up.

With care home providers reporting 30-50% of staff haven’t been vaccinated Ministers must do more to deal with vaccine misinformation & ensure take up is as easy as possible. We’re in a race against time to vaccinate around a million more home & community care staff by mid Feb

To all of the leaseholders in Barking and Dagenham who are affected by the cladding scandal: I have not forgotten you. The Govt is failing on cladding and fire safety, but I will keep fighting on your behalf. Please get in touch if you need any support.

The Govt has shoved fire safety & building remediation into the "too difficult to tackle" box. They have abandoned leaseholders. Normal working people should not have to pay a penny to fix a crisis that they didn't create. It's time Govt got to grips with the cladding scandal.

Earlier I said it was essential that the govt provides evidence of how many care home staff have actually been vaccinated & swift action to increase take up. This is now urgent I hope ⁦⁩ will be pressed on this later

A fire safety VAT cut would be a small help in easing some of the financial burden of making homes safe. Any savings should of course be passed on to leaseholders. I will also be speaking in this afternoon's debate on the cladding scandal. Let's hope, for once, the Govt listens.

I wrote to urging him to cut VAT for fire safety works to zero. Leaseholders should not have to pay a penny to pick up the tab for cladding remediation. But if the Govt persists with this terrible approach, then they should at least cut VAT as they do for new builds.

Today I wrote to on behalf of Dagenham & Redbridge FC calling for grants to be given to National League clubs instead of loans. More must be done to help clubs survive lockdown.

I worry that the Govt are once again being highly economical with the truth. We need complete data on the situation in care homes, not spin.

Good news that all care homes have been offered a vaccine. But we desperately need to know how many residents have actually received the vaccine. We need to know the same about care home staff as well. At the moment we only know half the story...
