I have yet to see a "community affairs correspondent" cover the "banking community", or even "white middle-class communities" in north London.
But they will do stories about black and brown *individuals*.
What does 'community' really mean in newsrooms and journalists' titles?

In 2020 the Grammys &major record labels ditched term "urban", recognising it was "plagued with racial stereotypes".
Is it time for newsrooms to drop the word "community", often a word simply to describe stories about underprivileged, black & Asian people?

"Lived experiences" must inform debate, not trump debate. Finding ways to disagree constructively on sensitive issues around racism, sexism and other forms of prejudice is imperative for progress.

Late to the party, but so happy I finally got to see it!
“The Wife of Willesden” is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!
It is the definition of “Black British culture”. A product of Britain’s amazing multiculturalism (and Zadie Smith’s awesome writing, as well as some brilliant acting 😄).

Excellent points. The was already a majority minority force when their officers suffocated
Eric Garner to death. It's an ingrained cultural hatred, especially for black "civilians" who don't know their place.
