@marcoarment@settern Ha! I have about 100,000 songs in my music library, 1000 photos in my Photos library. :-) -
@marcoarment@settern … instead using simple brute force. -
-
@marcoarment@settern I’m sure Apple thought leveraging the music files they already had was best. They always go for the clever solution… - Show more

@marcoarment@settern As a “normal” user, expectations may not match reality. I can’t force this and then be indignant if it doesn’t work. -
@marcoarment@settern true: more photos for me, but my 1985 to now CD collection has over 25K songs so I never could use Apple Match at all -
@marcoarment@settern 390gb music = 16000 lossless songs. 181 gb photos/videos = 55000 files. Music files are bigger. -
@marcoarment@settern how much do rips of the same cd vary? You could do a hash of the common encoders outputs? -
@marcoarment@settern also, Apple’s matching has actually restored some of my pre-iTunes store music which had become corrupted. -
@marcoarment@settern music libraries are mostly “known” content, often in Apple’s library of music. -
@marcoarment@settern you can’t really compare photo libraries and music libraries - photo libraries are all original content.
