Rejected for rule 2.25: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/ … I always knew the feature was living on the edge of this rule’s interpretation.

@marcoarment That's such bullshit. Is Overcast's prefs window posing as the App Store? C'mon.

@jsnell @marcoarment I’m with you on this one. This is pretty obviously well within the spirit of the rule.

@dwiskus @jsnell Not worth fighting it — I’d rather save my energy for more important fights, should they arise.

@marcoarment so having a list linking to photo apps I personally recommend would probably get my app rejected?

@noelchenier Maybe not immediately, but there would be that risk on every submitted update.

@marcoarment so stupid...how does it hurt apple to direct people to other apps which they will then download...and then make apple more $

@marcoarment But you weren’t posing as the App Store. You didn’t send a single rejection letter to developers.

@marcoarment @siracusa Maybe reimplement the cross promotion as crappy banner ads or push notifications?

@marcoarment Thank god. I saw that in @OvercastFM the other day and was FURIOUS when I couldn’t download Candy Crush from your app store.

@marcoarment you could add them to push notification, and no one would bat an eye...

@marcoarment I wonder why they offer SKStoreProductViewController in the first place. It’s all about providing the same App Store UX.

@marcoarment urgh. I frequently mistook a page buried in my podcast client as the app store.

@marcoarment interesting timing. Revenge? New release notes: "Overcast has lost the function..."

@marcoarment This really seems like the kind of “letter of the law, not the spirit” rejection that the App Store needs less of.

@marcoarment if you want people to confuse it with the App Store, show 1 other podcast app and 5 unrelated ones with keyword spam.

@marcoarment Seems 2.26 is much more applicable and specifically exempts your feature.

@marcoarment they've definitely gotten more stringent on the rules lately. We just got rejected on 8.5 for team logos, after almost 2 years.

@marcoarment (FWIW, we do have a license to use them, but they've never asked for proof before.)
