In my experience, beta testers don’t find significantly more bugs than what I find. It takes wide release to catch the really subtle ones.

When you deploy to 50 friends, it’s hard for anyone to figure it out within a week or two. Even a few hundred isn’t meaningfully better.

Decided on the quick submission. Crashing Springboard for thousands is worse than any bug that doesn’t show up on my phone by Monday.

I strongly believe that I found it. Fix submitted to Apple. I don’t think they approve apps on Sundays anymore, so probably out by Tuesday.

One thing’s for sure, though: these decisions are a lot easier with App Review taking 1 day instead of 9. (Thanks again, @pschiller!)

Letting conditions in the wild continue is likely worse than any embarrassing bug I may have introduced, but it’s hard to be sure.

This is one of those cases where it’s hard to know whether to wait for a responsible TestFlight beta (a week at least) or ship the fix NOW.

The pragmatic solution to 0xdeadl0cc terminations is to simply not put SQLite databases in the App Group container (which I fixed in 3.1.4).

Trying to avoid 0xdeadl0cc kills, I’d wrapped every SQLite query in a UIBackgroundTask. That’s too much, and unnecessary. Don’t do that.

Thanks to some extremely helpful info, I found the issue: OVERUSE of UIBackgroundTasks, which might also cause Springboard to crash.

I cannot figure this out. No UIBackgroundTasks are active. AVAudioSession is deactivated. No threads are locked. Any help is appreciated.
