Great read, especially as it made me go from 90% to 100% sure that I haven't upgraded from my 2014 15"

I take it that you're still liking your 2015 Pro then! Got to say that the 12" Macbook I part exchanged it for is perhaps the perfect laptop for me too. Love the form factor.

Glad to see someone singing the praises of this generation. It's a remarkably good piece of hardware. For the first time, I'm not looking forward to my next machine, because, evidently, it won't be as good.

I'm typing this on my mid-2015 Retina MBP. Literally the biggest, fastest laptop I could find to replace my home-built windows desktop and my 2010 MBP in one fell swoop. It's hard to believe it's 2 years old - and one of the best computers I've ever had.

I disagree. Used it for almost 3,5 years and loved it but the new 15“ Touch Bar MBP feels like a solid upgrade. Now the 2012 MBP looks clunky, the keys have way too much travel and I couldn’t go back.

I agree that it's, on balance, the best. But it was heavily criticised (and rightly freaking so) for soldered RAM and nonstandard flash. Both of those were poor decisions for Apple's customers.

My version of the "best" laptop http://dennistt.net/2014/02/19/real-macbook-pro/ … I got a mid-2012 MBP last year (Oct 2016) right before they discontinued it to replace my original 2009.

ab-so-lute-ly!!! I have the 13" because I don't need the size; but I love it - skipped the touchbar models and went straight for last gen. Great article!!!

Don't forget the SSD is removable in case it dies, and with HiSierra, apparently NVMe drives can be used. 2GB+ here we come! I still can't believe they call the new ones Pros. WWTT?
