@marco_org I know a lot of people who don't realize they can open links in new tabs. Just assume it's the same site if it doesn't open a tab

@marco_org It’s basically the same motivation as Reply-To munging, and it has similar (albeit less embarrassing) usability consequences.

@marco_org For once, I totally disagree. I think most folk don’t have an appreciation of keyboard modifiers to manage browser tabs/windows.

@marco_org Esp true on mobile; new tabs are more disruptive: new tab animation + page load + view ‘tab deck’ animation + close tab animation

@marco_org You need to back that "most people" assertion up. I submit you are wrong. I still deal with people resistant to tabs!

@marco_org A site that should open link in new window but doesn't, is boingboing. Their endless-list page doesn't reload correctly on 'back'

@marco_org Way more egregious to me are pages that won't let me open a link in a new window/tab.
