Agree with all your points re apple watch, except analog watch faces being easier to scan. As a non-watch-wearer, I stared equally confused at both your examples for analog and apple watch faces. Only thing good for telling the time to me: digital clock.

The top middle center complication on infograph analog allows you to put the digital time there. This allows for you to fill the watch face with complications, and still tell time when the hands are in awkward positions.
