Yes. Let's call this an entertaining story and leave it at that. Nobody in their right mind would run this long term or for serious commercial gain. Too risky and too unethical.
I think there's probably an argument that some people would and a place for discourse around influence. I would've thrown in an exit pop-up to let users know what they'd just been subjected to. But I appreciate expirmentation in the name of science and admire the ingenuity.
