The thing about a legal proceeding is that it is usually structured to produce a fast resolution based on available evidence. But sometimes the answer is “we have wildly insufficient evidence, go investigate more.”
Approaching the authorship question with the language of 'cases' and 'arguments' can be off-putting, but law-like processes can be used to ascertain truth.
