    This is not a debate or a trial. People must free themselves from those incredibly misleading metaphors in order to properly understand the Shakespeare authorship question.

        Trials and debates are necessary tools if you need to decide on something immediately. But they are not good ways of deciding historical questions in general or for finding truth in general. They are forms of theater after all.
