Say hello to
@nodes_io - a new way to create with code on the web by@variable_io. We use it to create interactive installations, visualise data, experiment with generative algorithms, build custom design tools and more. More refractions. Low res, low fps GIF as there is too much happening to keep it at reasonable video size otherwise.

It’s like Miegakure game version of a strange attractor where we flow particles along a curl of a vector field morphing over time said creative director to a tech lead while staring at a bullet point list in Notion and a möbius loop sketch on a sticky note. Need

And live demo but watch out as it's 12MB of assets and tested on Mac and iOS only http://marcinignac.com/experiments/subsurface-scattering/demo/ … cc:

There are 3 levels of attribution when working with digital agencies: 1. small studio / freelancer / artist says "we did it" 2. agency says "we and they did it" 3. client recognises "they (agency and artist) both did it"

Data art lives on a spectrum between the two. We start with data and use those values to control parts of a generative system. It's up to the designer to decide how much of the final form is controlled by data vs a random process or artistic choice. In datavis the input is a set of numbers describing a phenomena and output is a chart. In generative design we start with initial set of conditions and through continuous application of an algorithm arrive at a complex structure like a tree or swarm behaviour of a flock of birds

Q: What is the difference between data visualisation, data art and generative design ? A: You can think of both datavis and generative design as parametric systems. What differentiates the two is types of inputs and the flexibility in choosing the right output.

Thrilled to share my first podcast interview with
@datastories where i talk about differences between data viz, data art and generative design. Big thanks to@moritz_stefaner and@FILWD for having me. That was fun!https://twitter.com/datastories/status/1217541099109191680 …
