    Another breezy day out, worth it though as Grey Phalarope at Thornwick Pools a lifer 😊. Had Eider off South Landing and also added Gannet, Rock Pipit and Purple Sandpiper (Brid harbour) to year list now at #103

    A coyote and a badger use a culvert as a wildlife crossing to pass under a busy California highway together. Coyotes and badgers are known to hunt together. 🎥Peninsula Open Space Trust

    With the arrival of February we can expect some spring migrants to be returning to our shores. Already Black Kite are coming and some smaller birds, such as Subalpine Warbler, can be expected.

    Collared Sparrowhawk... saw one briefly in the garden this morning, photos from an earlier visit... starting to see a few more raptors about now

    Went up to Stainforth last Wednesday with The Rough-legged buzzard showed well at times, though lighting wasn't ideal, an excellent bird to see, only just posting these pics - many thanks to for local information.

    Two features of Lammergeier in one photo. They are the only animals whose diet is almost exclusively bone. Also the orange colouration is not natural but applied by the birds through rolling in or bathing in iron rich water (as with this bird) which stains the white feathers.
