There's so much to unpack here, part of which being people have been claiming they'd have a quantum computer running in 5 years for the last 15. Also, and fwiw I am not an expert so don't take this at face value, I don't know we have reason to believe QC's beat RSA, it's a hunch
It's not a hunch, it's real. QCs beat RSA. What *is* a hunch is when will anyone finally be able to build a QC large/good enough to actually do it for practical keys in use today (and in particular when they will beat contemporary computers running classical algorithms).
