Raise your hand if you're going to give Xecuter money for a 3D printable piece of plastic and something you can do with your phone and a USB cable? Anyone? Come on, they didn't even *try* to hide the fact that it's the same bug as sh0fusel2. Probably stealing homebrew code too.pic.twitter.com/chRLHntkVq

Heck, given their previous talk of "solder" and "solderless", back when they preannounced it they probably either a) had nothing but smoke, or b) at least had no fucking clue you could trigger RCM mode via the joy-con rail.

This is why console hacking is shit these days. It *always* devolves into piracy. Sometimes for-pay, commercial, scummy asshole piracy like here.

I don't want to offend you, but when you have a dumb question, I think you should ask it. What other uses console hacking has except piracy?

Except for basically the entirety of the core Wii homebrew scene, which I was part of? Literally *nobody* doing productive core work reverse engineering the system and writing exploits/loaders was doing it for piracy. That was all downstream assholes.

Of course it does. It's too easy and accessible. No one really seems to give two fucks about it too. Nintendo isnt able to track this at all, and Sony isn't trying to hard either. "Homebrew" scene only exists until piracy blooms. People don't care about QoL tools, only free shit

to be fair on TX, they have been around for a very long time (since OG xbox) and the business model hasn't changed - bring out the most n00b friendly solution. There's a market there.

In the Xbox days they were at least building LPC replacements with features like this. Not stupid $5 dongles with a 7x markup and ironic software-only versions because even they realize they have zero non-copyable added value, despite not believing in copyright.pic.twitter.com/hEBtwNz4W1

Homebrew on closed systems isn't much of a thing any more. Interest has waned b/c a) the hw platforms are no longer unique/interesting, many open available. b) most gamedev uses middleware (Unity) nowadays which isn't homebrew compat. However, interest in piracy is undiminished.

And because writing homebrew takes actual effort (increasingly so as platforms get more complex) while piracy is just redirecting /dev/game to /dev/sdcard (or equivalent).
