Also in technology sucking and almost locking me out of places: a box in a remote location nominally connected via a USB 4G modem fell off the internet, because the modem crashed (!!!!!) and went into Qualcomm Sahara Memory Debug mode.

I had opened a reverse SSH tunnel via an alternate NATed Ethernet connection "just in case" and because 3G coverage was a bit spotty. Another near miss. Ended up writing a quick custom tool (!) using OpenPST to send the Sahara reset command to bring it back up.

How did you find that it was in this memory debug mode? Did the SoC present itself differently?

It shows up with a different VID/PID for Sahara and the hello packet it sends contains the specific mode.
