I've been chasing a Spanish company to pay me an invoice for 10 months. They concept of other countries having invoice formats different from Spain's eludes them. It's been 7 revisions and now they're asking about why I did what they asked me to do in a prior revision.

Lovely, now they want some certificate of tax residency and I'm having to read Franco dictatorship era regulations to figure out what the fuck they're talking about.

They really should be honest. They're just trying to stall on paying the bill

Good luck getting paid by a Spanish company. Coming from someone who lived and worked there for years, this is standard practice in Spain. I left one company after they didn't pay me for 4 months work.

I'm Spanish, for what it's worth.

The extrange part is that they do not asked you for more money :'). Spanish laws and most of the country SUCKS (I'm an spanish citizen :'() (by your name were you also borned in spain?)

Yes, I am Spanish. I'm aware of these shenanigans, but it's even stupider as an overseas sole proprietorship trying to bill a Spanish company.

my japanese accountant told me that the new "my number" is the correct number to use as a foreign tax ID. it has worked so far.

My understanding is that is supposed to be used when dealing with tax authorities, not invoicing. E.g. yes I gave it to my Spanish bank for CRS reporting but I'm not aware of it being required or even a good idea to put on invoices.
