However, what @drtune pointed out, really going back to the previous thread we had, is that there's a very real problem of "treading on eggshells" when discussing these issues. Between people who broadly agree on social views, it's easy to let small differences of opinion amplify

I don't. In my experience, no matter how nonthreateningly you put things, you get angry men back. Might as well get to the point and sinkhole everyone whose hobby is to be an asshole on the internet.
That's fair enough; I can't say I have personal experience. I can only really speak as to my own interpretation of the original tweet. This must be really frustrating for you :/

See, the amusing part is that at one point, I was bewildered by the apparent hostility. I thought, "Surely I can do better! I'll just be reasonable and everyone will listen to what I say" and then what I got back was not an implication (like you mentioned), but...
