I know the feeling. Talking with people who know me is difficult, and talking to randoms a recipe for disaster half of the time. Being a cis white male is a big disadvantage; I've been blocked without warning for simple misunderstandings.

This is definitely a digression from the OP. Your first message on this thread came at the end of a particular train wreck of a day for me and it seemed I'd just lost a friend to gender politics, which didn't help.
We definitely need more accountability for overt bad behavior, and there's definitely a lot of that going around (and much of it goes unnoticed). That's what I was trying to acknowledge in the original tweet.

@drtune pointed out, really going back to the previous thread we had, is that there's a very real problem of "treading on eggshells" when discussing these issues. Between people who broadly agree on social views, it's easy to let small differences of opinion amplify -
