Absolutely. Beats freaking out about lost data any day.
Last time for me I ran rsync --delete one directory too high. I was thinking "cool, I get to *use* my backups!"

That's what I do when I'm crafting new use cases. In this case it was a mindless history-search-enter that I'd done many times before... I just ran it from the wrong place. Oops.
