      Mind you, this is the 3B+, I have not tried the other Pis. I have the DAC pHat on my pi zero w, and it also sound very good.

      Okay, I take that back, the sound on the Pi is worse than the iPhone. The sound from the Pi with the DAC hat, is of equal quality.

      Right. External DACs are fine, but the built in output is a terrible noisy mess. The photo seems to show the built in output in use.

          Yeah, but it's routed to a crappy speaker, so I couldn't tell. Using headphones made it more obvious.
