      Got any references? To me it's just a meme, it's not particularly associated with any group (other than trolling in general, which is broad), unlike your other examples.

      I think the attachment to IV-canal make them particularly loaded of semantics. It's the (not uncommon) problem of one group making something toxic by utter over-use, making it hard to distinguish the group-signalling vs casual usage :(

      I prefer to err on the side of assuming no harmful implications, but with the frog it's gotten to the point where if you're using it and not alt-right you've got to be seriously stupid. I just don't have that perception of trollface (yet?) :/

      It may be because you're inside looking out rather than outside looking in. It's kinda like the folks at Leipzig putting up a libertarian/altright flag while proclaiming themselves left wingers. It still got me to figuratively crap myself out of the conf.

      Could be. I'm just surprised it'd get that negative of a reaction. I know it's a stupid old meme, I'm just having trouble finding a significant association with that particular undesirable segment of society.

      Are baseball caps uncool now, or is the design just too close to a Trump campaign ad? At some point it's a feedback loop, isn't it? If reasonable people concede usage of $whatever to undesirables, then it exacerbates the problem.

          As long as the cap is not red with white highlights I'd say. I agree sometimes things get magnified for no particular reason at all and it becomes a knee jerk reaction. I would say that anything that came from the three-and-one (thank you Terry) canal is fair game to be toxic.
