MPlayer has since gained support for DVD menus, then been replaced by mpv which doesn't support them again.
To be fair, arguably the Right Approach™ these days would be for someone to write a DVD player using libmpv and implementing all the menus/DVD smarts on top.

Or to take an existing DVD app, rip out the video playback bit, and replace it with libmpv. Actually, take every app and replace all video playback bits with libmpv. Nobody needs any other video player core :-)
