This is the part that bugs me about our profession being called "engineers". Every goddamn non-CS engineer I know thinks *deeply* about consequences, and ethics, failure modes, etc. We've outsourced it to a subgroup of our profession. (And we don't always respect them, either)

These are all impressive things, but really, minor blips when it comes to the scale what can go wrong. And the really big mess-ups require large teams, lots of money, and lots of hardware. Because bits can be copied, but business with large scale reach can't.
