yeah either that or filesystem level. btrfs has done this shit to me, one frozen kernel thread taking down the rest of the system slowly.
If you use btrfs you deserve whatever you get, but it looks like she's using ext4, so it's more likely to be a hardware/driver issue than a FS issue ;)

i'm trying to quit! i already accepted i have a problem and i've been going to a btrfs support group to talk about this. hopefully in a few months i'll be btrfs free.
