Binary ninja (from @vector_35) might be something to look into too. The personal license is only $150, and it has a really good API
I've heard good things about Binary Ninja, though I've yet to try it myself. I believe @whitequark has some good opinions?

yes, I think its architecture (a series of progressively higher level IRs) is excellent and *the* way to build binary analysis tools
