It’s 2018 and you can run Crysis on integrated graphics, but Linux still can’t play two sounds at the same time on anything.

Same here, very old soundcard via FFado was causing trouble with Firefox/Chrome. Glitches in Youtoube and so on. Now running a Jack-only system, no more worries (except when Firefox dropped Alsa support temporary).

FFado *without* JACK? Is that even a thing? Yeah, for Firewire interfaces FFado+JACK is always the way to go, though bridging PA to it with module-jack-sink works very nicely.
