The other half of fail0verflow came from the iPhone Dev Team, which basically pioneered iPhone jailbreaking. I guess that doesn't count either.

If you want hackers to release their code and methods, show them 1) you care, 2) you're willing and able to help, and 3) you're not just in it for free games. People ticking those three boxes are few and far in between in the console hacking world these days.

After all you guys have done it's strange that you have not yet learned to ignore all of the cying 12year-olds. Keep up the great work and keep surprising us w/ what you guys can do w/ the switch!!!

It's more like "failoverfl0w never releases anything that I want right now". Anyway it's not like you MUST release anything, it's your work, do whatever you want with it.

Maybe releasing the Wii U exploits you guys had wouldn't have soiled your name like this...
-
To who should we have released them? The pirates? Because we *did* release them to a large number of trusted veteran Wii developers, and we had an open offer for other interested people, and we had some suggestions of things people could work on to spur interest. We got crickets.

The Wii homebrew scene was massive. Then we tried "just releasing stuff" on the PS3 and it was a huge flop, all we got was piracy. With the Wii U we tried treading slowly, and there was no interest from capable people. That's when we figured things were going downhill.
