Bitcoin consumes 4,000,000,000 W of power to process four transactions per second. A single Raspberry Pi with a database can do an order of magnitude more on 5W. Think about that next time you wonder if it's a good design.

First, with this kind of reasoning we'll be stuck in caverns. Second, how much the global banking system consume, do you have those stats?
It's blindingly obvious that banks are more efficient than Bitcoin because they don't charge ~$33/transaction, which is about how much BItcoin spends in electricty.
