Bitcoin consumes 4,000,000,000 W of power to process four transactions per second. A single Raspberry Pi with a database can do an order of magnitude more on 5W. Think about that next time you wonder if it's a good design.

The Lightning network isn't Bitcoin, but even if you want to count it as that, it still relies on Bitcoin too much to ever scale to global scale. Bitcoin is so bad it can't even handle error/exceptional transaction volume (which is what Lightning uses it for) at global scale.

"The Lightning network isn't Bitcoin" yes. it is. It's literally time-locked bitcoin in a cleverly designed smart contract. Lightning network doesn't use it's own coin, it IS bitcoin.
