WTF, my brand new Threadripper just died. Dead short across EPS12V, and there's an unmistakable hint of magic smoke smell near the regulators. I sure hope the motherboard didn't die and take out the CPU with it...

I'm pretty sure it was motherboard failure. The question is did it take out the CPU with it or not.

send it all back without Thinking about ...if you have guarantee on both parts also maybe the PSU if all is new... The seller must take care of it i think and you will get Complete new parts to start ftom the beginning without Thinking what could it be
