From ~50 hours to rebuild my entire workstation (Ivy Bridge i7-3820QM) to ~14 hours to build all the same 2560 packages on the Threadripper 1950X. Not bad. Should get even faster if I can figure out why Portage doesn't always multithread properly.

May I ask if your motherboard had any issues with the CPU mounting bracket? JayzTwoCents was saying that some motherboard CPU mounting brackets were faulty, and that damaged one of his review CPUs that AMD sent him IIRC.
I had to press harder than expected to engage one of the retention screws, but other than that it worked fine.

JayzTwoCents seemed to have a serious issue with screw 2. I only had to press down about as hard as he did for 1 (first), but the other two were fine. It seems he had an issue with the 2-3 side, which is also where the damage happened.

I see. Well, it's always good to hear that another person succesfully installed a Threadripper CPU.
