On the other hand, if I don't fail at my plans for 2018, I do intend to do some serious looking at another Nintendo console, perhaps resulting in a 35c3 talk. A console sharing a CPU with the Switch, but quite a bit older.

Correct. You can narrow it down further if you pay close attention to what I (very carefully) said and know about the systems ;)

N64 has a MIPS (VR4300i) core, not ARM. I'm kinda stumped by the "Same CPU, Not same thing as same architecture, but not same thing as same SoC" comment though. There are several possible interpretations (though some are contradictory)
