I'm just going to point out that the people involved in coordinating disclosure on Meltdown/Spectre have done a terrible job of agreeing on names/categories for the various bugs and CPU impact. Even post-disclosure there's still a mess of speculation on what bug affects what CPUs

How some cores are on there while others aren't is confusing me (A8 doesn't do OoO exec, but is vulnerable?), but I trust them to have thoroughly confirmed what they're saying.

Speculation :) Maybe they differentiate between fancy out-of-order and speculative execution on a pipeline. You only need the cpu to speculatively use some memory in it's future pipeline for it's contents to have a measurable effect on the caches.
